NHL Playoffs on DISH: First Round Schedule

After a thrilling First Round, the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, players (and fans) have a minute to catch their breath before the Second Round begins. In the Eastern Conference, the Panthers, Capitals, and Hurricanes all had relatively dominant series, advancing 4-1 in each best-of-seven series. As is often the case, it was another story for the Toronto Maple Leafs; after racing out to a 3-0 lead against the Ottawa Senators, they needed three more cracks at it before finally moving on following Game 6. 

The four Western Conference series were far more competitive, with each one featuring at least one overtime win. In their fourth straight year facing each other in the playoffs, the Edmonton Oilers once again ousted the Los Angeles Kings in six games, as did the Vegas Golden Knights in their series against the Minnesota Wild. The other two series came down to the very end of Game 7. In Dallas, Mikko Rantanen scored a third period hat trick to break the hearts of his former teammates in Colorado, as the Stars advanced past the Avalanche by a final of 4-2. And things were even more dramatic in Game 7 of the Jets-Blues series, where Winnipeg scored with less than two seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, which Winnipeg won at 16:10 in double OT.
