'Paradise' Comes to ABC: Meet the Cast

If you missed it the first time, you still have a chance to hop on the Paradise wave. The Hulu original starring James Marsden and Sterling K. Brown will air Mondays on ABC beginning April 7th.
For fans of thrillers with a dash of sci-fi, Paradise follows Xavier Collins (Brown) a secret service agent investigating the murder of former president Cal Bradford (Marsden). Collins' path to justice is anything but straightforward, with stakes and twists viewers could never expect, including a major shocker at the end of the first episode.
While we can’t reveal too much about the plot (where’s the fun in that) we can help answer the inevitable question: what have I seen them in before?
Sterling K Brown - Xavier Collins
Sterling is a man of RANGE. Most will know him as Randall Pearson on This is Us, the straight laced adopted brother to Kevin and Kate who struggles to find his place within his family. Randall captured audiences with his steady yet impactful monologues that often were balanced out with his ultimate goofy “girl dad” energy. Since the show’s airing, Sterling has appeared in a variety of shows and movies such as American Fiction and The Predator. As Xavier Collins, Sterling brings that same gravity to the show with an edge that even the most dedicated fans will be surprised by.
James Marsden - Cal Bradford
While most may know him as Kevin Doyle, the leading man in 27 Dresses, this actually isn’t James Marsden’s first "presidential” role. Marsden made an appearance in the 2013 film The Butler as President John F. Kennedy and the similarities in these roles won’t be lost on you. President Cal Bradford is a man in an impossible situation asked to make unimaginable choices, some of which ultimately lead to his murder. Paradise isn’t your typical thriller where you may be trying to figure out the "whodunnit" of the crime. Instead, it leads you down the path to question why it happened in the first place.
Julianne Nicholson - Samantha Redmond aka Sinatra
Julianne Nicholson is no stranger to complicated characters who carry a lot of nuance. Previous roles in movies such as Sophie and the Rising Sun and Janet Planet showcase Nicholson’s ability to perfectly encapsulate the complicated emotions that come from difficult situations. As Sinatra, viewers are caught between whether to hate her or feel sorry for her, often from one episode to the next.
Sarah Shahi - Gabriela Torabi
If you think about it, a therapist is the perfect cover to insert yourself into an investigation. Given her resume of playing curious characters in roles like Adrianna Tomaz in Black Adam and Carmen de la Pica Morales in The L Word, it's no surprise that Sarah Shahi brings an element of both clarity and suspicion into the world of Paradise.
